Month 6

Yikes.
6 Months is here.
Happy half year baby boy!

What a difference a month makes. You can crawl, Landon. That makes you the earliest crawler in the Kozyra house. Either you're super advanced or you want to keep up with your brother -- or get out of his way.

Two teeth. Two little baby teeth grace that precious little mouth of yours. From the looks of all the drool the others aren't far behind.

You're tough. Like bang something on your head and you don't even cry tough. And you don't take any crap from Oliver. The minute he gets rough with you - you give it right back. But the minute Momma walks away, you lose it. It melts Mommas heart and annoys her all at the same time.

You're such a happy baby! Unless of course you are hungry, then whoever is in your way better watch out. You love to eat, don't you?

BBQs, Birthdays & Ball pits

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Ours was jam packed.
That's what usually happens once the warm weather starts. It's exhausting, but fun.

We celebrated my uncles birthday on Saturday. Oliver loves my uncle. I'm so happy, the boys have him. He's like a father to me so it means a lot that they love him. Oliver asks daily for "Uncey."

We spent the day playing outside - it was nice and relaxing. Oliver played in the ball pit and helped my grandparents water their flowers.

Sunday we went to a barbecue and Oliver made some new friends. Watching him play and run and laugh with the kids reminded me of being little, it was so easy to make friends then. No insecurities. You didn't worry about if the other kids like you or not, you just did your own thing. It was easy.

I wish it was that easy to make friends as an adult. Maybe it's just me, but it seems hard.

You can't just run up and ask someone to play, they'd look at you like you were nuts. Then there is the worry about if they will like you or think you were weird. If they have kids, will your kids like each other? What do you do, if your kids don't get along. What happens if your kids love each other, but you really can't stand each other? Do you still get together and have play dates for the kids sake?

What if they don't have kids? Will they understand your lifestyle. Will they understand when you can't just meet up at the mall on a random Tuesday. Will they understand that you need a weeks notice (not days) for plans. Will they understand if you have to cancel said plans last minute, because your son is throwing up?

All these things and more are the things I think about. I'm lucky to have the friends I do have, the ones I met when I was Oliver's age. The ones that have stuck by me though it all. Those friendship are the most important and I hope that my boys find friends like that.

Monday we worked our buns off getting ready for our pool party. It was a beautiful day, hot but with a breeze. Those are the days I love. Where you don't feel like you're suffocating or you're going to sweat your boobs off. We got up early to fix up our backyard. It's been a process. June 1st will make it 3 years we've been in our house and we're now just starting to make the backyard presentable. It's been a challenge. We have a small yard and an in ground pool to work around. We wanted somewhere for the boys to play, but also needed a fence around the pool for safety. I'm happy to say, it's starting to look how I pictured it when we signed those papers 3 years ago.

Houses are always a work in progress. I'm happy we have lived in our house and now are making the changes we want. It gave me time to determine my style and not make rash decisions.

Speaking of the pool, Oliver loves it. He's technically been in it since he was 4 months old, but this year is the first where he wants to be in it. Yesterday he wanted to get right in. So we put him in his floaty and he loved it. Mr. Independent didn't want anyone holding on to his raft so we just stood aside and watched him. I'm so proud of him, his fearlessness is a blessing and a curse - I'm sure.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend, full of family, friends and fun. I hope each of you had the same.

I don't like tooting my on horn but I am proud of this - I made that dress. It was my first attempt at making a dress for myself and even though I wanted to burn it a few times - it turned out. I've named it my "Son of a Birch" dress. Replace Birch with the other "B" word because that what I said more than 100 times!

If you haven't entered yet, the giveaway is still open!

Oh and what do you think of the new blog design? I'm happy to say, I did it all by myself. HTML use to confuse the heck out of me - but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I love the new blog - I can't make any promises, but I'm hoping to keep it like this for awhile!

I Have a Secret....

Well if you know me in real life it's not really a secret.
But I feel that we're BFFs now and I'm ready to spill the beans...
Are you sure you are ready for it?
I have an unhealthy obsession with him!

It's okay, my husband knows and he's okay with it.

It all started with Twilight. That's when I first discovered this beautiful man.
Then I started stalking researching him and found out that he sings! Did you know he sings?
I love a man who can sing.

Then I found out that he was a model. When he was like 12.

Yeah okay, that's kind of creepy, pretend I didn't just share that.

Look at this instead

Ah, that's better.

Don't worry Rob we all have embarrassing pictures floating around...

So in my stalking research of Robert Pattinson, I found this blog Letter's to Rob. Do you know about this? It's pretty hilarious. I hung around there and met some kick ass girls, I still talk to today!!

There are other movies Robert Pattinson has been in. Vanity Fair anyone? Yeah, so his part was cut but Reese Witherspoon was his mom. Fast forward a few years and she plays his lover in Water for Elephants. Odd? Cool? I'm not sure.

Anyways.

Remember Me, the movie about 9/11 made me cry my eyes out. I remember sitting in the theater with big ol crocodile tears running down my face, it was pretty pathetic sad. Then I felt like shit afterwards. Ever have that happen to you? You go see a movie and then it ruins the rest of your day.

{Just look at this...It will make you feel better Lindsay}

Yup, that works.

Then there was How to Be. It was actually a funny movie. I made Ryan buy it off On Demand. Then because I am crazy totally normal, I ordered the soundtrack - because there was a chance to win an autographed poster - signed by Robert Pattinson.  Well I won said poster.
It was better than the Golden Ticket. Eat that Willie Wonka!
I carried that baby with me and even hung it up in our bedroom for awhile.

Eeeeeep!!

My friends and family also feed into this obsession. They are enablers for reals.
For Christmas a few years ago, my wonderful cousin gave me Robert Pattinson earrings. It was Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, but it was still him.
I proudly wore them on my ears.

Then there is the Robsessed DVD my BFF Jessica gave me for my birthday!!

I won't mention how I had a sound clip of him saying "feel like it's dirty - feel like it's wrong" as a ring tone for months days. Nope, I won't mention anything about that.

The obsession has slowly started to die down now that I am a mom. But I do still pick up a magazine here in and there if his mug is plastered all over it. Just don't look under the mattress - thats where I keep my stash.

I'm not ashamed - I'll admit it.

I'm obsessed with Robert Pattinson, and you should be too!!

Yup, you're welcome!

Oliver Says....

This is going to be a new series where I share the funny, gross, silly things that Oliver says.

While holding out an apple slice, "Here Momma, try it. It's good for you!"

Oliver is like a nosey neighbor. He loves looking out the window numerous times a day he says, "Ut oh Momma, car's gone" "Hai people!" "People Momma - PEOPLE!"

I'm not sure what people he is talking about we live on a super quiet street so these people may or may not be real.

While eating an English Muffin, he kept calling it a "Muppet!" "This muppet is so good Momma!"

Oliver enjoyed his first ice cream cone the other day, it was actually my ice cream cone and he up and stole it, when I went to take it back he says, "Oh no Momma, no way! Ahber's icream own"

This morning Ryan and I were listening to him on the monitor he's in his bedroom repeating, "Apples at the store Momma!" "Momma, apples at the store"

Speaking of apples. The other day I was leaving to go see my best friends baby as I was walking out of the house Oliver yells, "Don't forget the apples Momma" Apparently the only place he thinks I go is the store.

This one was ridiculous. The other day I was doing dishes. This was the following conversation.
Oliver: "Elbow Momma"
Me: "Yes Oliver, that is my elbow."
Oliver: "Hab it!"
Me: "You can't have my elbow silly!"
Oliver: {Throwing himself on the floor and crying} "Ahber hab it Momma!"
Me: {Pointing to his elbow} "Look you have your own elbow"
Oliver: {Straighting out him arm to see his elbow - makes his elbow disappear} "Ahber no elbow momma - Your, I hab yours"

25 minute tantrum over my damn elbow.

His new thing whenever you tell him he can't do something or has to clean up he immediately pouts his lip and says, "Ahber sad."

He's a cute kid, his vocabulary is nuts lately. He puts sentences together and comes up with the most off the wall things. I love him to death, but he is exhausting.

Chopped Broccoli Salad

This is my favorite salad. I make it a lot because it's so simple.
I made this for Mother's Day this year.
This is the only picture I have.
Trying to take 'recipe posts' pictures with family around is obnoxious.
Between Oliver asking to 'help' and my uncle asking why I was taking pictures of the food
It was just better that I snapped one picture quick.
From this picture it doesn't look that appetizing - but trust me
it's good!

Ingredients

Salad
2 broccoli crowns - chopped
1 heart of romaine lettuce
scallions - how ever many you want {I use 5 - because I'm a rebel}
slivered almonds
one packet of Ramen noodles - you can toss the flavoring packet
2 tbsp butter

Dressing
1/2 cup oil
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup white sugar
2tbsp soy sauce

Directions
1 - Wash and chop veggies. Place in a salad bowl.
2 - In a small frying pan add butter. Break noodles apart and sauté them in the frying pan until lightly browned. Set aside.
3 - Add all dressing ingredients into a bowl or salad dressing mixer. Shake/stir to combine.
{Sometimes I add more vinegar or sugar depending. So taste it and make sure it's to your liking.}
4 - Pour a little dressing over the salad and mix.
5 - Before serving add almonds, noodles and more dressing
{I always keep some noodles on the side in case there is leftover salad - I'm not a big fan of soggy noodles}

I have also added shredded carrots and mandarin oranges. That's also super good.

Chocolate Eclair Cake

This should just be called Awesome!
It's beyond delicious.
Like holy crap sneaking spoonfuls at midnight
delicious.

There are no 'during' pictures.
{just picture Oliver and I eating out of the bowl!}
The process is so easy, it's the end result that really matter anyway!

Ingredients
1 box chocolate graham crackers
{you could use regular if you want}
1 tub of cool whip
2 boxes of instant vanilla pudding
2 1/2 cups milk
1 jar chocolate frosting

Directions
Mix both packets of pudding with milk.
Fold in all of the cool whip
Break the graham crackers in half and line the bottom of a 13x9 in pan.
Spoon cool whip/pudding mix on top of graham crackers.
Add more graham crackers on top of cool whip/pudding mix
Add remaining cool/whip pudding mix
Top with graham crackers
Heat jar of chocolate frosting in microwave - until its fully melted
{I do 10 second intervals}
Pour chocolate frosting over entire cake. smooth out.
Refrigerate until ready to eat.

Its a great dessert to bring to parties!
Hope you love it!

A Heavy Heart.

I know today is Wednesday, and I usually post a picture.
Today there is something heavy weighing on my heart.
So wordless Wednesday won't be happening.

This post is a serious one. I've gone back and forth the past few days on if I should even write this, but the fact is, this has pretty much consumed my thoughts.

I've written this 100 times and nothing seems right. The words are coming out wrong and my thoughts are all over the place. So forgive me if I ramble.

Child abuse. It happens. A lot. We've all heard it on the news or the radio. Some coward takes out their aggression on a helpless, defenseless, innocent child or little baby. It's sad and disgusting.

Baby Ashlynn, was a victim of child abuse. She's only 4 months old. And she is currently in an induced  coma fighting for her little life. Her injuries include a skull fracture and bruised lungs. My heart is breaking while I write this. The tears keep welling up in my eyes and I'm fighting hard to push them back, they are on the brink of falling - like they have been for days. I heard about this story a few days ago. I found myself sad, scared, confused. Searching for answers on why this sweet child had to endure such a horrific event, at the hands of her own father, is something that I cannot wrap my mind around.

I don't know Baby Ashlynn personally. I've never held her, or smelled her sweet baby smell. But that doesn't keep the pain away just because I don't know her. My heart hurts when babies hurt. When babies are Abused. Beaten. Broken. I cannot be there physically to hold her Mommas hand, or offer her my shoulder to cry on.

So I write and I pray.

I have whispered to God over and over. I've prayed more these last few days, than I have in a long time. Soft whispers into the air. I've prayed for healing and comfort. I've prayed for strength. I've prayed for Ashlynn and I've prayed for her Momma - who is my friend. A young mother who must be on the edge of losing it. I know I would be. It tears me up inside when I try to put myself in her situation.

Lives changed forever.

However, I am hopeful for Baby Ashlynn, and I know that God is good and he is looking over her.

So friends, if you have a minute could you please say a prayer for Baby Ashlynn. That she will recover and be alright. That her big sister can have her back and they can grow up together and that her Momma can see her smile again.

Please 'like' the Baby Ashlynn Facebook page and share Ashlynn's story. This little Angel needs all the prayers and positive thoughts she can get.

I love you all so very much.
